Meet Anna Winget!
Anna Renée Winget (they/them) is a playwright, scholar, and artivist. They currently serve as a University of California Humanities Research Institute Scholar and professor of theatre at Loyola Marymount University. Anna’s new book, The Palgrave Handbook of Queer and Trans Feminisms, is available from Palgrave Macmillan. Their most recent play, Utah Queer explores the relationship between faith and queerness through the lens of a Mormon lesbian in Southern Utah who moonlights as a drag performer. Anna recently served as Mental Health Project Manager at RFSL, Sweden’s national organization for LGBTQI rights. They hold a doctorate in drama and theatre from the University of California at Irvine (UCI) and at San Diego (UCSD) focused on gender, performance, and healing. Anna teaches theatre and writing and holds an MFA in Playwriting from Boston University. Their new storytelling project, Crossing Pride, aims to develop sustainable creative healing, networking, and archiving by and for queer and trans refugees who are stateless, seeking asylum, or are otherwise displaced. Anna is now pursuing their drama therapy certification from the Drama Therapy Institute of Los Angeles.
