In today's episode I explore exegesis and Lectio Divina way of unpacking a passage of scripture with a combination of reading the passage and asking specific questions.  This specific passage, John 3: 1-17, was our selection that we went through at our first Lenten Bible Study at my Parish.

Dale Lykins is the founder of The Open Table, a non-institutional open and affirming religious community, and an Author. 
In Dale’s new memoir, just released, HUSH, CHILD, Finding My Voice & Breaking the Silence, Dale recounts his story of a web of family lies, that began to unravel during a voice therapy session.
Dale’s memoir goes into the depth of his pain, abuse, and how he had been silenced physically and emotionally. He also tells how he found his voice and stepped into his authentic life.
Dale lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife.

Going Deeper with Kim Clark! Extremism Is Not Christ Consciousness

Kim Clark (she/her) is a diversity, equity, inclusion educator, speaker and consultant. She is the co-author of The Conscious Communicator: The fine art of not saying stupid sh*t available wherever books are sold. She's led employee communication teams at global brand tech companies and teaches media literacy at San Jose State University. In 2006, Kim produced the documentary God and Gays: Bridging the Gap which was inspired by her own coming out story.

Going Deeper with Cody Aulidge!

Cody Lee Aulidge was born and raised in a small town just outside of Nashville, TN. He was raised in a lil ole southern Baptist church where Gospel music and “ole time religion” played an integral part in hisupbringing. Being a “Mama’s Boy”, he spent a lot of time around women. His best friends in grade school were always the girls, nurturing a feminine persona in him, causing a lot of bullying and them questioning his sexuality.
He came out as gay early on in high school. But after he began attending a fundamentalist evangelical pentecostal church, he ran back into the closet. He went on to travel and lead worship all over the southeast, California, and the British Virgin Islands with his Pentecostal Christian University’s worship choir for seven semesters, traveling, leading worship, singing with various worship teams, interning at churches, and working in ministry in various capacities for 11 years.
After making a big move across the country to help start a church, it was then time for Cody to come to terms with who God made him to be and now identifies as Pansexual. Cody lives in Wilmington, NC. He is working in real estate marketing and as a freelance health coach. He is involved in his community and has created an incredible group of affirming friends! He is pushing himself daily to learn more about theology and growing in his relationship with God. He is happy and knows that God loves him!

Meet Jan Shannon!

“Having served as a Licensed Minister in 3 denominations, Jan was actively involved in LGBTQ, and Black Lives Matter activism. Jan now works as a Paraeducator at a local elementary school, and speaks to university classes, occasionally preaches, and continues to lead a Bible study for the LGBTQ community at her house as Covid allows.Jan and her wife live in Spokane, Washington, where her kids and grandkids live nearby. Jan and Jeanine love to work in their yard, and travel as much as possible.Jan has a BA in Humanities, a BA in Women and Gender Studies, with a minor in Religion, all from Eastern Washington University, and a Master of Divinity from Iliff School of Theology.”
